The homelab exists so the house can run on it. This series is about Home Assistant doing exactly that: EV charging that tracks the solar surplus, energy plumbing, and the control-loop bugs that show up when automations meet physical hardware — with the recorder data to prove what actually happened.

  A Home Assistant automation throttles our EV charger to soak up the house's solar surplus. It charged past its target one day, whipsawed on cloud shadows the next — and then the whipsaw fix silenced the control loop entirely.
